MSU Healthteam Joins Michigan State Medical Society

November 9, 2018

The physicians of MSU HealthTeam are now members of the Michigan State Medical Society to impact policies and procedures which effect physicians and the delivery of health care to Michigan citizens.

MSU HealthTeam is the faculty group practice of Michigan State University’s colleges of Human Medicine, Nursing and Osteopathic Medicine. The knowledge and effort MSU physicians put forth in their respective communities will be amplified across the state of Michigan as an MSMS group member.

“The Michigan State Medical Society is excited to work with MSU HealthTeam,” MSMS President, Betty S. Chu, MD, MBA, said. “I look forward to gathering valuable input from MSU HealthTeam so we can best work to advance our society’s mission to improve the lives of physicians and the patients we serve.”

“MSMS membership provides MSU HealthTeam physicians a voice in the larger health care landscape,” said Tony Avellino, MD, MBA, assistant provost for student health, wellness and safety and HealthTeam chief medical officer. “MSMS membership connects physicians to additional resources for issues faced on a daily basis such as: the opioid crises, payment, and physician burnout. We are equipping our providers to be the builders of a culture of safety for students, patients, faculty and staff.”

The Michigan State Medical Society is a professional association of more than 15,000 Michigan physicians. Its mission is to promote a health care environment which supports physicians in caring for, and enhancing the health of Michigan citizens through science, quality, and ethics in the practice of medicine.
